It's alive and that's its nose?
Looks like something was dripping on it from above. It must have grown stalagmite-style.
That actually happens to my ice all the time. I'm going with the stalagmite explanation, although I have no idea how those are formed, so I may be wrong. Plus, every time I see it, I run with the ice tray to wherever Mark is and excitedly show him. :) oh, and it's really convenient when it does that because it gives you a little handle to pick up the ice cube with.
