Birthday Thoughts

This morning as I was getting ready to head out to school (much later than usual - I'm sorry 9:30 Aural Skills class, but Brian gets to sleep in on his birthday) I was thinking about where I am in life on my 27th birthday, and I felt very blessed. I'm in a town (Ann Arbor) that I really like. I'm in a ward that I really love. I have the most amazing friends whom I love (my Facebook wall had about a jillion birthday wishes on it this morning). I'm excelling in a highly respected doctoral program at a prestigious university. The university is paying me to be here. I have no debt and I have never even taken out a loan (thanks to my Dad for teaching me investing and financial responsibility). I have some really good opportunities lined up in the coming months. And I have this Pulitzer Prize-winning blog (not really, but I do enjoy writing here).

Not a bad life at all. I feel so blessed to be living it.

Brian, you rock my world. Happy Birthday, and don't give up-- you'll clinch that Pulitzer one of these days.
