We were supposed to be out by the end of Friday, and although I was personally all moved out by then, collectively we were still far from being finished. The management said it didn't matter when we were out of there as long as we had the apartment keys in the office drop box before 10:00 on Saturday morning. That being the case, I decided to spend one more night in my old room so that I could wake up early and get a head start on the final
scrubdown of the place.

I have always thought that bedrooms look a lot smaller when they are empty. I look at this space and wonder how a person could fit their whole life inside.

In an
earlier post I relived a very sudden and irksome move in which I had no opportunity for closure. This time around, however, I had a really great experience. I was so grateful for that last morning because we had plenty of time to wash every surface, vacuum every square inch, and triple-check every cupboard and drawer. When we locked the door behind us for the last time I felt at peace knowing that I had been able to give a proper send-off to the apartment that had been so good to me for the last three years.

Goodbye! Best of luck on your new adventures. You always seem to have a zest for life and will do well no matter where you are.
I hate seeing empty homes. :( But I'm glad you got to say goodbye properly. We miss you already!
I can't believe strangers are moving into that apartment! I've known so many guys in the ward living there and the other apartment in your complex over the years - weird!
