SST: The "La La La" Song

SESAME STREET TUESDAY

A few months ago my sister Emily requested this Sesame Street clip for her birthday, which is today.

Emily and her fam are down here in Utah with us right now, so I'm enjoying the rare treat of spending a birthday with one of my sisters. (I was with Emily on her last birthday too - the proximity to Christmas definitely factors into that.)

This song just popped up on my iPod - not the Sesame Street version, but a version a friend sent me by the Barenaked Ladies. It hasn't popped up forever (literally years) and I didn't realize it was still in my collection.

Back when I first got it, though, I was thrilled because it was one of my Sesame Street favorites. I don't think I ever hear the word linoleum without thinking of Bert and Ernie. I played it for my sister one day and expected that it would be met with the same enthusiasm. Instead I got a blank stare (I sometimes forget that my sister is seven years distanced from my own Sesame Street experience). And then I felt sad that a newer generation might think "La La La La Lemon" originated with Barenaked Ladies instead of Bert and Ernie.

Anyway, when it popped up out of the blue I remembered that you had put it on your blog and had to go back and leave a comment :)
